New Software Version 4.6

Multiple Language Support

EyeTech announces the release of their latest Quick Glance software version with support for multiple languages.  This release incorporates foreign language support based on the open "XML" data standard.  The great thing about the EyeTech language implementation is that any user can develop his own language files.  Quick Glance will then read these language files and display all text in the new language.

Quick Glance version 4.6 includes the language support and is currently available for downloading at no cost.  If you own any Quick Glance eye tracking system and would like to upgrade to version 4.6, for details please contact EyeTech at www.eyetechds.com/contact.htm

15-year-old Lacey, of Rushville, Indiana operates the Quick Glance eye tracking system from her bed.  With the system she is able to operate a variety of educational software to learn and to speak.  For more on Lacey’s story, please visit our website at:

EyeTech Tip of the Month

Last month’s tip included useful information on using the eye blink as a method of switch.  This month we are exploring Quick Glance’s eye gaze method of clicking.

On the opening screen select Setup and then select Clicking Options to bring up the dialog box that controls these options.  You will see two gaze options:  Dwell Box Size and Slow Dwell Interval.

Dwell Box Size:

This is the size of the box that the user must keep his or her gaze inside in order for Quick Glance to register a dwell.  For a 17-inch monitor the units are in millimeters.  The general rule of thumb to follow is:  The more skilled an individual is on the eye gaze, the smaller the box size should be.

Slow Dwell Interval:

This is the time the user must stare at the same spot on the screen in order for Quick Glance to register a dwell click.  This setting is critical and must be set to each individual user’s skill level.  The more rapidly an individual operates the Quick Glance system, the lower this number should be.
